Continuing my daily Bible reading and meditation, it seems I am only able to take in a chapter at a time as there are so many wonderful nuggets of Truth and Wisdom contained in God's word!

You may read the details of 2 Chronicles, chapter 16 for yourself, but the overall message is about our need to always and continually seek God and His ways, no matter the circumstances. King Asa, described as a good and Godly king, eventually suffered greatly in his professional life (as king), in his personal life (with physical ailments) and in his spiritual life (out of God’s favor) because he turned to OTHER resources for answers and solutions to varied circumstances that he faced.

Too often, without first turning to and seeking God, on a matter, we, like Asa, turn to friends, professionals, books and ‘the world’ for answers and solutions to our problems or decisions. The “world” is more than ready to give advise and solve our problems, and often requires a hefty fee for the service!

How much wiser it is to follow the teaching of Jesus; to “seek first the kingdom of God”. It is true, that God can use varied sources to give us direction, but without FIRST laying the matter in God’s hands and giving it over to the Master to handle, we are showing disloyalty or distrust in our Heavenly Father, the God of All Creation! God deserves and demands total devotion, love, loyalty and trust.

I’m recalling the chorus of the old hymn, “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face; And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace”.

The scripture to remember today is 2 Chronicles 16:9…

"For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him."

WOW…what wonderful assurance and peace is given to us to carry us through each day and every situation!
